The Tasmanian Farmers and Graziers Association is holding a workshop at Oatlands on Wednesday to enable landholders to learn more about the Midlands Water Scheme.
“It is the golden opportunity for farmers, particularly those who have not irrigated before, to ask questions about buying water allocations in the scheme,” TFGA chief executive Jan Davis said today.
The workshop, at the Oatlands Town Hall, 71 High Street, from 9 am, will provide advice on:
• budgeting and auditing calculations to determine overall farm businesses water requirements;
• irrigation gross margins and the economic benefits; and,
• the basic design of an irrigation scheme on a property and the associated infrastructure costs.
The TFGA has engaged Macquarie Franklin (formerly ARM) to assist landholders, at no cost. One-on-one assistance will be available on ensuing days but farmers are advised to attend the workshop first.
