Stalled Royal rescue: The real story … ?
Sue Neales, Mercury Wednesday:
FURIOUS Andrew Wilkie has accused the State Government of deliberately “dragging its feet” on fixing the dilapidated Royal Hobart Hospital.
Mr Wilkie yesterday blasted the Bartlett Government for not yet finalising its agreement with the Federal Government to receive the first $50 million to fix the ailing RHH before Christmas.
The independent Denison MP said the State Government appeared frozen, resulting in delays to development in southern Tasmania.
Florence wonders if Andrew asked himself why.
Florence thinks she knows: it’s all linked to the suspension of RHH CEO Michael Pervan – my god how dare they keep that poor bugger in limbo.
The Barty government is ever so reminiscent – in a like small-town Hicksville way – of the UK Blair Government of history.
A favourite Blair strategy was the use of “disruptive technologies” … keep ’em guessing, blindside ’em; be too clever by half … that sort of thing.
Now, in relation to the Royal, think about this scenario: if you wanted a new CEO of a single hospital network to get favour with the doctors you would starve the hospital of capital and recurrent funding … until you were ready to announce the new appointment.
That way they would launch into the new job on a tide of money and the grateful back-slapping of all network doctors, specialists and staff.
Then again, it could be that they are simply …. incompetent.
Take your pick. I reckon my conspiracy theory is nearer the mark.
