The Tasmanian Greens have congratulated the Hobart Bike Kitchen for its valuable work in rebuilding and recycling old bicycles for re-use around the streets of Hobart.
Greens Member for Denison, Cassy O’Connor MP, participated in a recent Bike Kitchen fund-raiser, rebuilding and repairing an old red bike that will now be auctioned off at the Sustainable Living Expo in Hobart this weekend (6th and 7th of November), with the proceeds to go back to the Bike Kitchen for use in purchasing bicycle components and equipment required for recycling the bicycles.
“The Hobart Bike Kitchen is a valuable local social enterprise that recycles old bicycles and then sells them on for a give-away price, and I am more than happy to be involved in raising funds for this worthwhile enterprise,” said Ms O’Connor.
“The red bike could be yours as it will be auctioned off to raise funds for the Bike Kitchen at the Sustainable Living Expo in Hobart on the 6th and 7th of November.”
“There is no longer any reason to throw out old bicycles or components when they can instead be taken to the Hobart Bike Kitchen for recycling, and a chance at making another owner happy and healthy while also cutting down on greenhouse gas emissions,” said Ms O’Connor.
