A Cry from the Heart – Rosebery …

Posted on

We live in a beautiful valley, where 100 years ago, Aborigines roamed the highlands.

Today Rosebery is contaminated with poisonous heavy metals, including arsenic lead and cadmium manganese.

My property was tested for heavy metals last April and in May we received a test that proved heavy metals or arsenic, lead and manganese in both front and back yards.

The mines still claimed all was OK. So we stayed and more tests were done in July 2010 which we do not have the results from.

Last Wednesday (21-9-10) my pet dog Wombat collapsed in Queenstown, one hour south while sitting on Eddie’s car seat.

His eyes began to bleed which was possibly blood pressure and or inflamation. From 2pm Wednesday to Sunday (he saw vet twice since Thursday 22nd) Wombat went totally blind. He is booked into hospital ($1000 later) for a complete 8 hour test. His urine was flown over to Melbourne (across Bass Strait) Last Monday; and could be Cushings disease.

We have two little dogs and one is down.

The fact is, Eddie may well have contracted bladder cancer here after we arrived in December 2000. This is a fact as 90% of bladder cancers are caused so a specialist stated, from contamniation, especially arsenic.

The mines are pumping out Arsenine, from their chimneys.

Over 28 folk have complained about heavy metal poisoning from Rosbery; they are treated like cranks … well this crank won’t rest until we get to the bottom of this.

Last night an old man from Rosebery looked at Wombat and said “he’s had a stroke. That sent him blind.”

He may be right, but it had to be a mini stroke as Wombat can still walk and it is amazing to see him manage to walk out to the courtyard to his toilet.

I asked the mine folk to come and see Wombat and last Thursday they did.

I guess they don’t want me to join the Tasmanian toxic taskforce, and be another one who may sue them.

They want the tests on Wombat … so until they give me the latest tests of the ceiling and the yard … 40 samples done in july 2010 … they will get nothing. I told them my dogs will never walk on the dirt on this property again.

We will be leaving Rosebery as soon as it is financially possible, which I figure will be in a month.

Remember the movie Erin Brokovich (or whatever her name was) well … even since we have been here, people are dropping like flies with cancer. This is a cancer cluster of that I have no doubts.

One local told me, and he is now sick himself, but fears the mines, that in Clemens St, the main street where folk have got sick since 2000, that since 1950, poeple have died in those houses since 1950….but the mentality of the folk here is …

As you all know, eddie and i dedicated our life to supporting homeless children, and so that is a life path … I am not asking for finanical support … I am asking for knowledge … please everyone … search the net… pass on this email…and in trying to save Wombat we may actually save some people here who are still in denial…

It is a wake up call for all …
