ABC Online: Poll shows Labor up as Liberals slump: A new poll shows the Tasmanian Labor Government gaining ground on the Liberals. The EMRS poll asked 1,000 Tasmanians which party they would vote for if an election was held tomorrow.

It showed that if a state election was held in May, Labor would have lost by 15 per cent to the Liberals.

But a 6 per cent jump by Labor and an 8 per cent slump by the Liberals in the latest poll has closed that gap to just one per cent.

The results show the Liberals slightly ahead in Bass, Braddon and Lyons.

The Greens are preferred in Franklin but they are equal first with Labor in Denison.

Will Hodgman is preferred Premier in all seats, except Braddon where David Bartlett is 1 per cent ahead and Denison, where Nick McKim is the favourite by 4 per cent.

The poll also showed one in 10 people were willing to vote independent in Denison, more than double the number in any other seat.

The Liberals have blamed a poor Federal election result in Tasmania for the slide.
