Media Release – For Immediate Release
Only days left to enter the 2010 Youth Portraiture Prize

Aspiring young portrait artists have only until Friday to lodge their entry in the 2010 RACT Insurance Youth Portraiture Prize.
Executive Director for Tasmanian Regional Arts Paul Jenkins urges all artists contemplating entering the awards to do so and potentially walk away with a $5,000 prize.
‘Since its inception, this competition has grown in significance, with its recognition as a national Australian Business and Arts Foundation award adding to the status of both the event and, most importantly, the status of its young artists’ said Mr Jenkins.
‘There are so many talented young artists whose work deserves recognition. Prior winners such as Hilton Owen have gone on to carve successful careers in the contemporary arts scene due in part to their involvement in the Youth Portraiture Prize’ added Mr Jenkins
Tasmanian Regional Arts and RACT Insurance support for the Youth Portraiture Prize extends to the showing of the works in three venues around the state and the winner receiving $5,000 and a trip for two to the Archibald Prize Exhibition.
Entries must be of a living Tasmanian who has inspired the artist in some way. Entry forms and conditions are available from the website www.typp.com.au or from Tasmanian Regional Arts on 6426 2344.
