LIVING STATUES DRAW ATTENTION TO TASMANIAN COMMUNITY ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES
Living green statues representing a cross-section of Tasmanians promote environmental awareness at Salamanca today. The Tasmanian community demand a genuine resolution to the ongoing and destructive conflict over our irreplaceable forests.
Today we are drawing the communitys attention to the urgent need for honest solutions to environmental issues in Tasmania. The future is in renewable energy and a small-scale, high-value timber industry. Tasmania has a natural advantage in these areas, says CODE spokesperson Dr Colette Harmsen.
Tasmanias world-class forests can support a quality timber industry instead of being trashed for woodchips or burnt for so-called green power, says Dr Harmsen. People from all walks of life want to see an end to this longstanding forest conflict.

CODE is a not-for-profit community organisation committed to environmental advocacy and ensuring a protected and sustainable future for Tasmania.
