Reclaiming the Domain
Thank you to the Old Bear (HERE: Shabby treatment) and others who supported my call to “Reclaim the Domain” and return the Domain House site to the University of Tasmania.
Urgent action is needed to restore the buildings on this site, as shown in this photo of the former Caretaker’s Cottage (with Domain House in the background).
Domain House was once described as “The Architectural Glory of Hobart”. Members of the local community have been seeking to have the Domain House site returned to the university since 2002.
During the past eight years the buildings have been subject to numerous acts of vandalism and there was an arson attempt on the Waterworth Building in 2008.
Let’s “Reclaim the Domain” and reinvigorate this once beautiful icon for the benefit of the Tasmanian community.
