Australian launch of Australia’s most feared restaurant critic turned Gourmet Farmer, Matthew

Posted on

Fullers are glad to be hosting the Australian launch of Matthew Evans’ new book The Real Food Companion at 6pm on Tuesday, March 2 in their new store, 131 Collins Street.

Matthew Evans, once Australia’s most feared restaurant reviewer, moved to Tasmanian less than two years ago and set himself up to live on and off the land.

His latest book, The Real Food Companion, is an informed look at how to ethically source, cook and eat real food. It’s the farmer, butcher, fishmonger and baker by your side, and it is a beautifully designed and photographed book that showcases the best of this island’s produce.

Matthew Evans is representative of a growing number of Tasmanians; born and bred and as recent arrivals who realise the essential value of eating well and eating local.

Evans, with his penchant for fine dining is, admittedly, a little more extreme in his version of sourcing the best food – not only does he make his own prosciutto, he is currently the star of Gourmet Farmer, an SBS series featuring his move from a cushy city job to working his land in Tasmania.

All are welcome to attend this free event.
