Struggling with health issues for years…

Posted on

My name is Merle Savage; I was a female general foreman during the Exxon Valdez oil spill beach cleanup in Alaska.

Dr. Riki Ott, who wrote two books about the criminal actions of Exxon; Sound Truth and Corporate Myth$ and Black Wave, visited me in my home, with a movie producer and film crew for Black Wave the movie. I was interviewed for the film. She explained how Exxon authorized the toxic chemicals for spraying Alaska’s oily beaches, which has caused many deaths and health complications

Survivors of the cleanup have been struggling with health issues for 20 Years, without any compensation from Exxon. EVOS workers who blasted Alaska’s oily beaches, were engulfed in toxic fumes containing aerosolized crude oil—benzene and other toxic chemicals. Some of the illnesses include neurological impairment, chronic respiratory disease, leukemia, lymphoma, brain tumors, liver damage, and blood diseases. Exxon needs to be accountable for their criminal action, just like Hazelwood.

The Google video below exposes medical issues generated from toxic chemical authorized by Exxon, in the cleanup.

I wrote Silence in the Sound, which explains what the EVOS workers had to live with, during the cleanup.
