One in seven …

According to the Asthma Foundation one in seven Tasmanian children are diagnosed with asthma, whereas the national average is one in nine.

I have been critical of Asthma Foundation (Tasmania) ever since they came out and said they were not a lobby group (for asthmatics).

You can read more at http://www.cleanairtas.com/asthma.htm

The national body is not much better as my letters to them have gone unanswered.

These people are aware that smoke is one of the greatest triggers for causing asthma and I feel it is unfair on our children to have them deliberately exposed to high levels of statewide smoke for many months of the year.

It is all very well for the Asthma Foundation to appear on the doorstep once a child has asthma, however, this body should be doing a lot more to stop all this intentional planned burn smoke before it happens.

It upsets me to think we are deliberately exposing our unsuspecting children and elderly to all the known toxins attached to this smoke pollution. Asthma is not the only debilitating disease they can end up with as a result of it.

You can now go to http://www.kidsbreathebetter.com.au and join in the national forum to raise these matters (the address in the Examiner was wrong).
