Paying for the Public Service
A reminder that we’re paying for a bloated public sector through continuing hikes in electricity, land tax, water & sewage charges.
The most recent rise, 3.5 or 4.5% (depends who you are), took effect on 26 Nov or 1 Dec 2009, this or last week. That’s the time-related part of the story.
I spotted several anomalies – deliberate – which actually push some salaries well over the rises quoted for public consumption.
The attached table illustrates the big pay increases taking place.
How about from $109,776 in 2007, to $130,275 last week (date of latest increase).

Professional Band 5 officers had a 3.5% increase, effective today 1 Dec 2009.
B5-R1-A went from $101,638 to $110,455.
