For the second time in a row the Treasurer, Mr Aird, has failed to join Mr Bartlett in front of the media to defend Labor’s politically expedient policy backflips.

The failure raises questions about whether there is a policy split between Mr Aird and Mr Bartlett, and whether Mr Aird supports Labor’s abandonment of principle and policy in pursuit of votes.

Both Labor’s water and sewerage bungle, and Labor’s land tax farce, fall fairly and squarely in the portfolio responsibilities of the Treasurer.

Indeed, Mr Aird spent months defending Labor on both of these issues.

Mr Aird needs to front the media today and explain whether he agrees with the politically expedient backflips taken by Mr Bartlett over recent weeks.

Or instead, is he a man of principle who stands by all his previous statements of support for the existing land-tax and water and sewerage regime?
