Rosebery: State must act
The Government did not conduct a soil lead investigation in residential Rosebery. It did limited sampling on three properties and therefore it is not possible to determine what is an average soil lead level on properties in Rosebery or the real extent of residents’ potential health risks.
Further, any assessment of potential exposure should be based on a worst case scenario to ensure public safety.
The whole matter will continue to be wide open for argument until such time as the Government takes action on remedying the current situation for affected residents and establishes an independent population based public and environmental health survey into heavy metal contamination in Rosebery and put their findings out to peer review.
