Revelations that teachers at Hobart College want to exit the failing Tasmania Tomorrow experiment shows just how strong the depth of feeling is on this issue.

Teachers at Hobart College have had a year to work in and evaluate the new system. They are the best placed to judge its success or otherwise in improving educational and retention outcomes for our students.

As a result, the teachers at Hobart College speak with the credibility gained from practical experience when they say that Tasmania Tomorrow is failing our students and that they want to exit Tasmania Tomorrow.

If elected, the Liberals will immediately put in place a moratorium on new schools entering Tasmania Tomorrow and we will urgently review its impact upon our students.

This independent review will be part of a broader examination of what Tasmania needs to do to improve our poor retention and qualifications rates, including improving our middle schooling and high school program options, and ensuring that children are well on the way to becoming literate and numerate before they leave Grade 1.
