The Tasmanian Greens today launched a further three of their Braddon team, who will be joining lead candidate Paul O’Halloran, in the contest to secure a seat for the March 2010 state election.
Greens Leader Nick McKim MP, who launched the three new candidates in Devonport, said that there is a strong chance that the Greens will win a seat in Braddon, and that this hard-working and vibrant team is well on the way to do so.
“Melissa, David and Claire, along with lead candidate Paul O’Halloran, have the experience and community connections to give us the best chance of picking up a seat in Braddon,” Mr McKim said.
“The Greens have the policies to deliver for Braddon, like our Royalties for the Regions policy, and this team has the credentials to articulate a vision of a broad economic base, and protection of the places which make the north west and west coast so special.”
“I’m delighted to be launching a further three candidates, who will play an important and constructive role in delivering for Braddon.”
“Labor has failed the people of Braddon, and while travelling around the West and North-west coasts in recent days, it’s clear that people in Braddon are looking for a change.”
“Our vision for Braddon, like Royalties for Regions, Cooperatives Tasmania, a Tarkine National park and a $23m spend on infrastructure and marketing in the Tarkine region, can broaden the region’s economic base and make the north west of Tasmania less vulnerable to corporations who do not always act in the best interests of local communities.”
“Watch out for this team rolling out future policies on key areas like health services, education and training, and job creation.”
Mr McKim said that the Greens would be launching the last member of their Braddon team at a future date.
