TASMANIA’S FORESTS: WORLD HERITAGE NOT WOODCHIPS

Posted on

(Thursday) morning’s actions in Auckland CBD garnered support from all walks of life despite a refusal to meet or comment by the Australian Consulate General at the Australian Embassy. Conservationists also hung a banner protesting against the wood chipping of Tasmania’s rainforests which was acknowledged by thousands of commuters.

A large banner reading “TASMANIA’S ANCIENT FORESTS: WORLD HERITAGE NOT WOODCHIPS” was displayed around Auckland and a Crisis Report was successfully handed to the Australian Consulate General.

“Still Wild Still Threatened is calling on the Australian Government to extend the boundaries of the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area to cover crucial areas now threatened by destructive logging activities.”Said Spokesperson Erik Hayward.
