Snapshots of the Tamar

At least we had warning of this storm. The old number 9 mud barge was tied behind the Beauty Point wharf. Dad warned the others on their boats and we moored behind the barge, using it as a breakwater. Boats tied to boats tied to boats. The wind gusted up to 90 knots. We were all lashed together which caused our masts and rigging to become entangled. There was nothing that could be done about it. The biggest worry came from the sheds on the wharf. Would the corrugated roofing be torn off and fly amoungst us, doing major damage? The sheds stayed intact. The storm raged for most of the night. The next morning the sun arose on a peaceful river. No major damage was done. Just a reminder of what nature can throw at you. Let us not interfere with nature, her temper is already known. Let us not tempt fate.
