
THE State Government was in damage control last night trying to save the battered reputation of Minister Graeme Sturges. The action comes as allegations emerged of another embarrassing outburst four years ago.
Premier David Bartlett yesterday expressed deep disapproval of Mr Sturges’ “brain snap” at an official function last Thursday in which he allegedly told a security guard: “Don’t you know who I am? I’ll have your f…ing job.”
Mr Bartlett said he was not aware of any other incidents involving the minister.
But last night Mr Sturges denied new allegations he was involved in a heated exchange with a bureaucrat at the launch of boutique beer Moo Brew on November 11, 2005.
Guests at the packed event at Moorilla Estate recalled their shock when the then backbencher, who they said appeared to have been drinking, “scruffed” Tourism Tasmania communications manager Robert Hogan over an apparent misinterpreted comment.
