Saturn’s Rings selected by OzTrax
Hobart band Dancing With Socrates has received another major boost with the news their single Saturn’s Rings is going to be featured on the OzTrax website.
“It’s another boost for the song and the band,” said singer Pete Thomas. “ABC Radio and Television, and not just in Tasmania, but nationally, have been long time supporters of Independent Australian music.
“The OzTrax website is a huge part of that so to get the invitation to put Saturn’s Rings up there, as well as a whole profile of the band, is really fantastic.”
OzTrax is overseen by the ABC’s Brisbane-based music guru Bill Riner, a man with a reputation for being hard to please when it comes to selectings songs and bands to be featured.
His endorsement of Saturn’s Rings adds to the glowing review provided by Mike Pinder, founding member of The Moody Blues and the man who taught The Beatles how to play the Mellotron.
Pinder, now based in Los Angeles, said Saturn’s Rings was an “incredible work”.
Saturn’s Rings is available on the band’s self-titled CD and can be purchased via iTunes.
“Overseas, we’re saying Tasmania is home to the world’s freshest air, and we’re promising people a breath of fresh air for their iPod if they download our music,” laughed Thomas.
Saturn’s Rings and other tunes from the CD have been featuring heavily on the New York-based Internet radio station jango.com.
