Protestors will call on the Rudd government to withdraw all troops from Afghanistan at a protest to be held before the Prime Ministers Community Cabinet in Hobart on Tuesday, October 13th.

With every day, the war is showing itself to be more and more unjust. Tens of thousands of Afghani civilians have died due to the war, many more civilians have become refugees. But its not just Afghans, in the last two years, nine Australian soldiers have died. It is clear that the war hasnt brought democracy as has been claimed. The recent elections were fraudulent on a massive scale, nor has the war stopped terrorism. More terrorist attacks have are occurring now than before the invasion. The Australian public were told many lies about what the war would bring. This can explain why the war is becoming increasing unpopular here protest organiser and Socialist Alliance member Alby Dallas stated.

The protest follows similar protests held last week held in Sydney and Melbourne, as well as a protest in Washington calling on Nobel Peace prize winner, Barack Obama to stop the war in Afghanistan.

There is increasing pressure on Obama to send 40,000 more troops to Afghanistan. We have no doubt that if this happens that Australia will be under increased pressure to send more troops. This will only increase the death toll for both Afghan civilians and Australian soldiers. Kevin Rudd admitted in April that the war will become more unpopular. We agree with him and believe that instead of continuing with an increasing unpopular and unjust war, that Rudd should withdraw all Australian troops. Countries such as Canada have seen the writing on the war when it comes to Afghanistan and are looking to withdraw, Australia should do the same. Dallas continued.
