Libs to meet Technical College head tomorrow
The State Opposition will tomorrow meet with the head of the Tasmanian technical college, Mr Nigel Hill, to discuss the funding crisis it currently faces.
With the Premier’s so-called Tasmania Tomorrow experiment for post-year 10s failing, it is critical that Tasmania’s technical college is not simply left to die.
Just because Labor is ideologically opposed to these colleges is no reason to ignore the plight they face. Indeed its 270 students and 30-plus staff are testament to the success of the college, in stark contrast to the Premier’s failing Tasmania Tomorrow experiment.
All options should be explored to ensure the continuation of this successful teaching model which has the support of teachers, students and industry.
