Much public activity in the old days
There was an amusing typo in Sue Neales’ Saturday Merc column – where the reference by Bartlett wanting “public” institutions became “pubic” in print (ad online):
The Bartlett Government has said many times it is keen for its long-awaited docklands rejuvenation project around Sullivans Cove to be underpinned by major pubic institutions such as museums and places of learning.
One realises that certain journos have a fascination for the nether regions, but perpetuating “pubic” in tastimes!! I don’t think that either Bartlett or the good professor are actually advocating the establishment of extra-curricular activities of the nocturnal kind through brothels on the waterfront, but, then again, down Wapping way there was much “pubic” activity in the old days.
