Monique Huyskens, Greens candidate for the Launceston City Council, calls on all eligible voters to cast their vote in the local council elections. To date, only 38% of the postal ballots have been returned, with the postal ballot closing Tuesday 10am.

Ms Huyskens said, “We encourage all those eligible to have their say in local government. This is the best way of electing a council that represents the diversity in the community, and for the community to have their say in local governance .

“While historically only about 55% of eligible voters actually cast their vote, we are hopeful that this year will see an increase in overall participation in the local election”.
