Elizabeth College has voted to stay out of Tasmania Tomorrow until at least 2011.
58 % of teachers have voted to stay out of Tasmania Tomorrow. (The vote was 48 to defer entry until 2011 and 35 to enter Tasmania Tomorrow in 2010)
This is a huge turnaround from a ballot held earlier in the year.
The recent decision of Rosny College staff not to go into Tasmania tomorrow was a major influence in convincing teachers at Elizabeth College to have another vote.
AEu Secondary Colleges President Greg Brown said,:”Elizabeth College will now be able to consider its future in a period of calm and reflection and hopefully the problems besetting the Premier’s PY10 restructure have been addressed.
After the next state election, Elizabeth College will be able to stay as a secondary college and do what it does best- provide a top class comprehensive, education to students from all walks of life and sections of the community,” he said.
David Bartlett has guaranteed Elizabeth College that it can defer entering Tasmania tomorrow if that is what the majority wants.
