Climate Action Hobart
What: Community Climate Action Forum
When: Saturday 10th of October, 10am
Where: Philip Smith Centre, 2 Edward St, Glebe
Community members will converge tomorrow for the inaugural Tasmanian Climate Action Forum. The forum will aim to construct a 10 Point Climate Action Plan for community and government action on climate change, with input from experts and the public. Climate Action Hobart spokesperson Hannah Aulby said it is vital that the Tasmanian community be part of the solution.
The forum provides an opportunity for all members of the public to have a say on Tasmania’s future. Climate change is affecting all of us, and we all need to be involved in creating a climate friendly Tasmania.
Through films, speakers, plenaries and discussions participants will be able to learn about emissions targets, renewable energy, sustainable cities and transport systems, agriculture and forests. The focus of the day will be how these climate solutions can be implemented in Tasmania.
It is time for the government to listen to the people. We need a long term strategy on climate change supported by short term action. The forum will showcase how technology, innovation and political commitment can turn Tasmania into a world leader on climate change, Ms Aulby stated.
