Clarence Mayor spoke in favour of water reforms
Well may the Clarence Mayor claim to have told the Treasurer that the water reforms would be a disaster (Merc Oct 7) but his voting record at Council demonstrates the opposite.
He has rarely spoke on the issue and consistently voted in favour of the Treasurer’s structural and pricing proposals, including twice voting against my proposal to oppose the model he belatedly describes as ‘Frankenstein’.
Ratepayers are invited to check the public record on Council’s web site for the Minutes of 7/4/08 (Item 9.1) and 17/3/08 – (Item 11.7.4) It is not correct to claim to have opposed something that was supported from the beginning and neither the Mayor nor the Deputy Mayor are amongst those who can now say “I told you so”!
