A CO-ORDINATED attack on major public buildings around the world was carried out yesterday. From Australia to Europe, anti-logging protesters rallied against logging in Tasmania’s old-growth forests. But the action, organised by Still Wild Still Threatened through its contacts on the internet, has been condemned by forestry groups, which say the damage caused to the state’s image is “irreparable”. How many irreplaceable original slate tiles did these boys break clambering around on our beautiful heritage listed Parliament House? It’s an act of vandalism.

Funny, they can coordinate this, but can’t find jobs!

Unfortunately Hal, what you and many others fail to realise is that Australian forestry companies also do not favour wanton destruction of old growth forests. Their ethics match those espoused by the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry, may I suggest you visit their website. If you disagree with Tasmania’s forestry procedures lobby the Federal Government, which, in partnership with the State Governments, determines the policies. By all means demonstrate against those countries which are uncontrollably removing forest cover but refrain from misguided protest against companies which are leagally conducting an environmentall sustainable business

On December 1, 1955 in Montgomery, Alabama, Rosa Parks, age 42, refused to obey bus driver James Blake’s order that she give up her seat to make room for a white passenger. At the time the government supported laws that supported the bus drivers order. In fact you could even say that a minority of people supported black peoples rights. Just because something is supported by a minority doesn’t mean it is wrong. Everyone is entitled to their opinion… but i can’t believe people can be so stupid to voice some of there backward, red neck opinions. its embarrassing that some Tasmanians aren’t smart enough to think into the future. why don’t you complain about some of the ridiculous things that our government spend money on. no instead you are concerned about a roof. Well done to the protesters. Well organised and well thought out! Congratulations for getting your point across so well.
