Help buy a herd of cows

Posted on

The Hobart-based Vietnamese Victims of Agent Orange Trust, which raises money for victims from the war to be given a cow to aid their dreadful plight, is raising money to buy a third herd, to be handed over in April next year.

The Trust is run by Bruce Montgomery, who penned this latest plea for help:

I am writing to all those who have contacted the Vietnamese Victims of Agent Orange Trust over the past six years or so to tell you that we are making what is likely to be our fourth and final project, a third herd of cows.

Our friends at the Vietnamese Department of Foreign Affairs in Hue and I have agreed that we will hand over another herd of cows to Agent Orange victims’ families on Tuesday, 20 April next year at a village near Hue in central Vietnam.

I shall go to Vietnam in April no matter how much we raise, but I would like to get as close to $20,000 as I can. Any donors who would like to join me in Vietnam for the handover are welcome. Arrange to be in Hue by Monday, 19 April and you will be free to continue your travels from Wednesday, 21 April.

As we have now set a date, the Trust would like to receive donations as soon as possible so that we know how many cows we can buy, therefore how many families we can assist and how many people have to be notified and trained in animal husbandry. That involves long lead times, so I encourage you, if you would like to contribute, to pay a soon as you can.

The easiest way to donate is via PayPal on our webpage: http://www.agentorange.org.au
