More than 40 people were arrested for trespass during a blockade of the Upper Florentine Valley four months ago.
It has been revealed Forestry Tasmania gave police incorrect information about the forest exclusion zone and most of the protesters were arrested about 300 metres outside the boundary.
Police have been forced to abandon the prosecutions.
Protest coordinator Geoff Law says it is a huge embarrassment for both.
“If Forestry Tasmania can’t draw up an exclusion zone properly, if they can’t even read properly a publicly available map, it raises all sorts of questions about whether Forestry Tasmania should be managing our forests,” he said.
“Secondly, over the police relationship with Forestry Tasmania, because clearly police have accepted unquestioningly Forestry Tasmania’s advice.”
