Strategic planning appears absent in Tasmania
MARION NICKLASON
Planning a road through the Tarkine against the science and the will of the people, suggesting a 3 lane highway for the main road in Tasmania and encouraging more trucks onto the roads by neglecting and down scaling the rail networks shows absolute lack of strategic planning.
Death, severe head injuries and other injuries caused by motor vehicle accidents are at an unprecedented level in Tasmania.
Grief, trauma, disability and social isolation are only a few of the outcomes of the accidents.
Building safe highways and heavy transport and passenger railway systems, improving education, advancing social conditions to improve self respect and respect of others will surely assist in reducing the road toll and subsequent devastation.
Strategic planning and effective allocation of funding is essential.
