I’m happy to debate, but …
VANESSA GOODWIN
In response to P Bastick (Mercury 20 July) I would like to put on record that I would be very happy to participate in any community-driven and community organised candidates forum or debate as I have done on previous occasions.

Mr Crotty’s debate does not seem to be targeted at the Pembroke community. He has a panel of guest questioners including past politicians and media representatives. I am not sure if any of them actually live in Pembroke.
I have not seen any evidence of community invitations to the debate so far and it will be very short notice indeed if something does appear.
For those reasons I believe that Mr Crotty’s ‘debate’ is more about attracting media attention for himself than listening to the community. I have now been doorknocking for over three weeks, building on my previous doorknocking efforts and have been guest speaker at numerous groups on the Eastern Shore over the past 3 years. I have put myself out there in the community and demonstrated both my willingess and capacity to answer any question posed of me.
