The Lorinna Rd controversy

THE Lorinna Road saga goes on. I thought you might like to show your readers how low the Kentish Council can get!.

Hello Lindsay,

“..vigilantes playing a deadly game with human lives.”

……………so quotes the Mayor of Kentish to all in Lorinna in a circular letter. Here’s a picture of the last two working parties trying to get our historic road into a “preservation” state. Guess they forgot their ‘six shooters’!

The Mayor’s letter is full of hyperbole and provably false statements. I’m not sure how seriously the police will take this because the last time they came out (the only time that I am aware of) they were told that people were vandalising Council machinery at the end of Lorinna Rd. On that occasion, no Council machinery was anywhere near Lorinna Road! The Police were not impressed at 1am!

It is a sorry state of affairs when Community members are treated in this way when they voluntarily to do the work that the Council ought to do with the rates it collects from the same people.

The “vigilantes” are all members of Lorinna Works Inc. A ‘not for profit’ fully incorporated organisation. Lorinna Works Inc carries $50million insurance for any public liability claims and substantial cover for injury or accident on every volunteer. (All those in the picture are fully covered)

The bottom line for most Lorinna residents, is that the Mayor and Council are treating us with contempt, and are acting with closed minds as to what should be done in the current financial times. They are also totally ignoring real road safety, by forcing Lorinna residents to use the one lane river Road.
