Our Tibet – The Journey of One Tibetan Family

Tenpa Dugdak and his father, Rinpoche will be in Hobart at Fullers Bookshop on Sunday May 24th at 2pm to talk about their book Our Tibet – The Journey of One Tibetan Family – and their experience of exile from their homeland in Tibet.

Published by Yartsa Gunbu Press, this is a unique publication, both in content and presentation.

The text is interspersed with Buddhist teachings as well as Chinese legal rhetoric regarding the invasion of Tibet though ultimately tells the story of this family fleeing as refugees – and mirrors the fate of many thousands of Tibetans forced to leave their own country.

Approximately 2000 Tibetans escape from continued Chinese oppression and brutalities every year.

The representative of His Holiness the Dalai Lama in Australia, Tenzin Phuntsok Atisha, has said of this book “an intimate and rare narrative of the fate of one family and the hope that binds all Tibetans.”

While the plight of Tibetans is well known in the West the documentation of this personal journey is rare.

There will be an opportunity to speak with the author and his father at the event.

Profits from the sale of this book will be directed towards various projects to help preserve Tibet’s World Heritage Culture.
