My criticism still stands, to wit they should have followed the long standing practice of no ignition sources when demolishing a car. With budgetary constraints, a second day on the protest would no doubt have to be authorised and so the pressure to complete in 1 day was on. That they did not run lunch in shifts is amazing. Treating it as a jolly is not professional. It may be a break from the usual routine for the girls and boys to go up the bush and burn stuff, away from the drunks, dead drivers and domestic violence that is the poisonous meat of a career in the Police, but it is nevertheless an operation.
