Wrong. Wrong. Wrong.

LISA Singh seems to be once again demonstrating that the Bartlett Government is as arrogant and self-serving as the Lennon Government. At a time when many Tasmanians are losing their jobs or are seriously concerned about keeping them, the Bartlett Government appears to be once more looking after Labor mates with what is believed to be the appointment of a top Labor adviser to a post for which he has no specific qualifications, the role of Director of Building Control. The appointee is believed to be Daniel Leesong, former Lennon Chief of Staff, whose most recent project I believe was working on Premier Bartlett’s new $23m road into the Tarkine.

I was also told the unrelated fact that he’s a keen cyclist, like, or with, the Premier.

There are rumblings of discontent in the building industry, because another eminently qualified industry expert, is believed to have been passed over for the position.

With the endorsement of CFMEU official Scott McLean, who has been at the forefront of supporting Gunns Ltd; with Bartlett’s determination to destroy proper planning processes; with his determined folly of driving a road through the Tarkine, even in the face of expert scientific opinion that it will ensure the extinction of the Tasmanian devil; and with a lack of reality so pronounced that only a week ago he declared Tasmania in the middle of a renaissance, the questions must be asked after a decade of Labor rule:

What have they done for us?

What has this Government learnt?

Is it capable of confronting the terrible challenges our island now faces?
