Sustainable infrastructure projects to save the economy

HERE is the beginning of a list of infrastructure projects, that should be discussed and elaborated on.
We need to develop such a list and present it with some force to those with their hands on the purse strings.
Please don’t respond cynically. These and/or similar topics should be pursued despite the ship moving in another direction. Please add to the list.

· Undergrounding/Bundling power cables.
· Finish installing and distributing natural gas to the whole of the state.
· Install natural gas car service stations (they come in a container-size units and can be instantly installed at any natural gas outlet. They also exist as household size compressor units).
· Convert diesel driven vehicles to natural gas.
· Plant extensive wind break hedges as part of rehabilitating food producing land.
· Set up and support self-help groups for the installation of solar power plants of all sorts (hot water, electric power).
· Develop proper heat pump systems using earth and/or water as warming agents combined with central heating systems. Combine them with solar energy.
· Create a pilot street tree nursery for tens of thousands of proper calliper and trunk height street trees.
· Mass plant properly planned infrastructure street tree across the State.
· Create around 20 new “natural” camping grounds in National Parks and/or Reserves in a effort to re introduce the populations to nature experiences.
· Phase out fish farms.
· Retrain workers from unsustainable enterprises.
· Pass legislation and flanking measures to open up private land for pedestrian circulation around the State.
· Traffic calming in urban and country environments using trees and un-straightening of approach roads.
· Develop world standard timetabling of public transport.
· Introduce large scale organic food production across Tasmania (Soil Association model).
