I have lived in George Town for 50 years

IF Phil Lorey ( Here )is referring to George Town in his response to the declining condition of our Tamar River he must remember that just as many of us are aware and concerned about the disgusting decline of our river, as are concerned about the impending results on our river and valley from a proposed pulp mill.

I have lived in George Town for 50 years, the past six years of my life have been that of quadriplegic. This has not stopped me from attempting to have my anti mill veiws aired, in every possible medium.

As I write this I do so fighting through my constant companion, pain.

I have been completely disillusioned with our local newspaper, the Examiner. They print what suits them, as it suits them. The ABC screens callers and slews the topics and views to achieve the slant they desire. So where to now? It is my intention to relinquish my subscription with The Examiner and commence a subscription with The Mercury.

Just remember Phil not all George Town residents are apathetic, probably an equal percentage of Launcestonians.

We are aware of the diabolical condition of our river, the leaching of our waters by timber plantations, the appalling lack of knowledge of intelligent management of farms etc etc.

Apart from the above I have also e-mailed members of Parliament and pursued every possible avenue available.

I guess that I am at the end of my tether, and that I need to some time to lick my wounds.
