Florentine Solidarity Action – This Sunday Franklin Square

FLORENTINE – URGENT ACTION – PLEASE ATTEND IF POSSIBLE!!

Were you one of the hundreds of Tasmanians who participated in the Florentine Community Walk-Ins on 18th and 31st Jan to reclaim the Upper Florentine forests from destruction? Did you know that subsequent to the community days, the Tasmanian government, through Tasmania police, has targeted 11 people who were present at these events and threatened them with charges of trespass and incitement? This is clearly an attempt to intimidate those who would stand up for our forests.

FLORENTINE – URGENT ACTION – PLEASE ATTEND IF POSSIBLE!!

I [Austra Maddox] have been asked to help promote this action to support those who have been threatened with charges over the Florentine Community Walk-Ins in January.

Needless to say I am most supportive of any action that can usefully be taken, and I would encourage all of you to attend and to get your friends and family members to attend as well. These people have done a fantastic job on our behalf and in defence of the forests – Now we can do our bit!!

You are invited to take part in a community action in solidarity with the forests and those people who have been scape-goated by the police.

Meet at Franklin Square 11am Sunday 22 March, then walk to Police Headquarters.
