The Tasmanian Greens today described the scaling back of the Freedom Of Information review team as just another one of David Bartlett’s broken promises.

The review was part of Premier Bartlett’s much touted 10-point plan announced when he was elevated as Tasmania’s default Premier after Paul Lennon’s scandal-racked demise last year.

Acting Greens leader Kim Booth said today that the cut back in funding to the FOI review team was just another of Premier Bartlett’s broken promises to the long suffering Tasmanian community.

“Default Premier Bartlett has been big on rhetoric but low on action and the cut back to the FOI review team at the same time as he increases his media office staff is a perfect example of where his priorities lie,” said Mr Booth.

“Default Premier Bartlett is in grave danger as being seen as just another rabbit talk big, who says a lot but delivers nothing.”

“Default Premier Bartlett’s government is blocking more FOI’s than ever and a simple direction to all departments would restore the public’s right to know, which is currently being suppressed by this obsessively secretive government.”

“Actions speak louder than words and the regular refusal to release information, and now the cut back to the FOI review, says more about this so called democratist than any of his big empty words,” said Mr Booth.
