Church row intensifies

THE row over the future of the historic Holy Trinity Church in North Hobart looks set to engulf the State Government. Former Holy Trinity parishioners fighting to save the crumbling 1848 sandstone church plan to take their concerns about the legality of the sale to Tasmanian Attorney-General Lara Giddings. The Anglican Church, which deconsecrated Holy Trinity in late 2007, is close to finalising the disposal of the church to the Greek Orthodox archdiocese of Australia for $50,000. But Dr Christian Garland, head of the Holy Trinity Support Group, believes Acting Premier Giddings may need to intervene. Read more here
