A letter to The Examiner

Posted on

John Hayward The Examiner found it necessary to edit out the “while resembling bribery in most respects”. as well as the final sentence.
Dear Sir,
THE Triabunna protesters have a lot to learn about our democracy. Our laws are made by representatives elected with the finances of their supporters. In return, those representatives naturally enact the legislation desired by their most significant supporters. This arrangement, while resembling bribery in most respects, is perfectly legal, and forms the lifeblood of our system. If the protesters are unhappy with the results, the answer is to buy their own government.
