Tourism Council chief executive officer Daniel Hanna said the road was not necessary. “We don’t support the full loop road. We certainly support that part of the proposal that seals existing roads,” Mr Hanna said. “The new road won’t drive more visitors or extra expenditure. The money would be better spent in developing new visitor experiences, such as [Forestry Tasmania’s] Phantom Valley.”Tarkine tourism operators said this week the drive would destroy the values visitors came for.
