Dozens of appointments – from the Forestry Tasmania boss down – have such solid, staunch links and close personal histories with the Labor Party it is virtually impossible to separate the state administration from the overt political machinery of government. Such entrenched incest is typically endemic in Third World countries and again I propose that it is Tasmania’s small size and extended Labor incumbency that have induced this chronic malady.
