Be aware Commissioner, that in your attempt to solve an anticipated problem you will assuredly create a much bigger one. Firstly, you will transform the perfectly reasonable Tasmanian Police force, of which several members of my family and several friends are serving officers into the public enemy, a pariah force like in the Queensland of Bjelke-Petersen. You will also cause division in your own police force, because the majority of the Tasmanian police officers are sympathetic to the cause espoused by the protesters against whom you advocate having draconian legislation targetted.

Commissioner, my political activist side would thoroughly endorse your move to beef up the laws against protesters, and I would suggest you consider adding a law against assembly, removal of the right to the presumption of innocence and anything else designed to make life hell for protesters. I would even urge you to order your police officers to fire into the crowd. Because, every step you take down that road of reaction you strengthen the position of those against whom you are directing your foolish laws. So go for it Jack, and wonder, during your ensuing sleepless nights, why, suddenly, your neat little world is out of control, and how much of the chaos is your responsibility. Read more, Comment here
