A Diploma of Democracy

I propose the introduction of a Diploma of Australian Democracy (Dip Aust Dem) as a one year, part time, external studies course, to be offered by the University of Tasmania and other Australian Universities.
I further propose that the relevant electoral acts be amended to require any candidate standing in a local, state or federal election to have successfully completed this diploma as a condition of their candidacy.
I am not certain if Messrs Lennon, Kons, Green and Parkinson would pass such a course. However, there would be one less excuse they could use to justify their failure to grasp the fundamentals.
