Unethical, Discriminatory, & Intolerant Political Advertising

Independent Candidate for Lyons, Ben Quin, yesterday spoke out against the inflammatory and divisive literature recently distributed by the Liberal Party and Timber Communities Australia.

He today announced that he will attend a meeting at the Anti-Discrimination Commission of Tasmania in support of an action being brought before the commission by Martine Delaney of the TGLRG (Tasmanian Gay And Lesbian Rights Group).

Mr. Quin stated “While I may not endorse or support all of the policies of the TGLRG or the Greens it is nevertheless the inherent right of all Australians to express their views without fear or prejudice”.

“During the last State election similar tactics were used and I refuse to stand by and watch powerful lobby groups use their muscle to vilify anyone who disagrees with their stated aims”

“I find it abhorrent that the Liberal Party and TCA seek to change the electorates voting intentions by actively seeking to prejudice the public’s views of vulnerable minority groups by bully boy tactics.

I have invited representatives other political parties to attend this hearing with me to show that there is bipartisan apolitical support against the insidious and poisonous tactics that the Liberal Party and TCA have instigated.”
