Cousins, Flanagan for pulp mill rally, this Saturday

COUSINS AND FLANAGAN TO SPEAK AT HOBART ANTI-PULPMILL RALLY

Businessman, author and former prime-ministerial advisor, Geoffrey Cousins, and acclaimed author, Richard Flanagan, will both speak at a rally against the proposed Tamar Valley pulp mill in Hobart this Saturday, 17 November 2007.

Mr Cousins is widely credited for putting the pulp mill on the national agenda in August with a campaign directly targeted at Federal Environment Minister Malcolm Turnbull.

Mr Cousins and Mr Flanagan joined forces to letterbox Flanagan’s Monthly article about the relationships between Gunns and the Tasmanian Government on Mr Turnbull’s home turf in Sydney.

“We are delighted to have two such nationally prominent figures standing up for Tasmania’s environment at our rally,” said Wilderness Society campaigner, Geoff Law.

“It sends a message that the pulp-mill campaign will intensify in the months ahead.”

Rally and March to Stop the Tamar Valley Pulp Mill
12:30pm on Saturday 17th of November 2007
Franklin Square, Hobart followed by a march through the CBD.
