A senior lawyer has added weight to calls for an investigation into Premier Paul Lennon’s handling of the assessment of Gunns’ proposed northern Tasmanian pulp mill. The assessment panel’s head, former Supreme Court judge Christopher Wright, has accused the Premier of trying to pressure him into speeding up his evaluation of the pulp mill. Attorney-General Steve Kons has said legal advice from both his department and the solicitor general have cleared the Premier of any wrongdoing. But the Tasmanian Greens have released advice they received from David Porter QC, who says that if Mr Wright’s version of events is accepted, there is a prima facie case that the Resource Planning and Development Commission Act has been breached.
