Sustain

Tasmanian Times is pure Tasmanian with all the verve and splendour of the roaring 40s! No ‘free trial’ teasers as subscription bait or stories that disappear behind a paywall not long after they have been published. In the interests of informing public debate, Tasmanian Times content has always been free and always will be.

Running a website and associated activities is not without costs. There’s everything from computers and related equipment, web hosting (our archive is 65,000 pages!), design updates to keep pace with latest tech and security issues, training of volunteers, telephone, accountancy costs, travel and numerous other minor items. It all adds up.

You can support Tasmanian Times in the following ways:

Read and share – We all love that and especially our writers and contributors!

Click on ads – yeah, we know :-/ You won’t have had so much fun since you cleaned the oven. (how we do ads is changing, so you’ll love that even more)

Speak up – which we have disabled comments for the moment, but they’ll be back soon.

Contribute material – see the guidelines on the Submission page about how to submit an article, feature, photo, video or letter to the Editor. Join the hundreds of authors and creators who have their work on TT for all the world to enjoy.

Volunteer – Our volunteers are awesome and greatly valued part of our team. You’ll get to meet other people who are passionate about independent media, and work with them to chronicle the life of the island. Learn by doing and sharing. Visit our Volunteers page to learn more.

Become a Patron – For the price of a coffee or two each week you can join the increasing number of Tasmanian’s who make a one-off or regular monthly contribution via PressPatron. That means we can make more of the content you love, plus some extra stuff just for you. It’s kind of like having a pet that also does the dishes and mows the lawns without asking! *tailwag*

Advertise – We offer the best rates for online Tasmanian advertising in the whole world. So, if you want to put your lovely ad in front of our many Tasmanian readers see the Advertise page for the media kit which explains the options available. (currently being changed with a new kit in July 2026)

Thoughts and prayers – apparently this fixes natural disasters, stops bad guys with guns, etc. so lay it on us.
